Executive MBA

An executive MBA, or EMBA, is an MBA program for Executives. Typically EMBA students will complete their degrees in 2 years or less, in a structured program that emphasizes effectiveness, i.e., with minimal disruption to work and career.

Most reputable and highly ranked business schools offer EMBA programs. Admission is highly competitive (again for the top schools). Typical students will have 10 or more years of professional or managerial experience.

An EMBA is often viewed as a career-enhancer and as a mean towards greater visibility and responsibility. In many cases, EMBA students will be sponsored fully or in part by their employer. Therefore, sending an employee to complete an EMBA program is a major investment for any sponsors. Just being approved by upper-level management to pursue an EMBA is a strong signal of an employee’s potential within the company.

Some highly-ranked EMBA programs include:

  • University of Pennsylvani Wharton School
  • Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management
  • New York University Stern School of Business
  • Thunderbird School of Management
